Breaking News : Cupid Is Smashed in Mahmoud Khalil’s Museum !!

It seems that there is a curse in the Mahmoud Khalil’s museum because today a historical statue for Cupid at the garden was smashed in to pieces right after the visit of the public persecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud  !!
This happened in less than 24 hours of the Van Gogh’s painting theft !!
Broken Cupid (Youm7)
This Cupid statue’s value was estimated by millions too considering its history !! Already I do not know what it was doing at the garden when it was supposed to be inside according to those who working at the museum.

Abdel Magid Mahmoud , the public persecutor visited the museum today and he found out the 27 cameras and alarm devices in the museum are and were all broken during the crime !!
He found out that there are 7 guards only protecting this big museum with multimillion treasures and those guards are not capable of protecting anything at all !!
Mahmoud has banned the head of the arts section Mohsen Shalaan and other 8 employees at the museum from travel till the end of the investigation. There is no doubt that those who stole it had some help from inside , the canvas was cut from inside the frame for God sake , this needs time !!
Shalaan accused minister Farouk Hosni of neglecting the museum for more than a decade and that the surveillance cameras were broken for the last 15 years.
Most people are sure that Hosni will get away from this scandal as he always does.

  • Here is a video shot in the museum from a year ago based on the date of its upload , this video shows the level of neglect in the museum , already I assume that this video was shot by a mobile phone without  a permission from the administration !! You can watch it after the break

    •  By the way Youm 7 published this video as if it were their exclusive finding with no credit to the one who filmed , in fact they re-uploaded again to their account !!!
    • During my search in Youtube I found a clip showing the museum before the theft.

      2. no there is no need for a help from inside, simply while the guards were praying AL-Zohr prayer in Jama'a the thief stole the painting there was no need for a help from inside i can deny it and have no doubt about it the only thing that can provide a good explanation for this is that the thief did visit the museum more than a few times

      3. I agreed professional thieves do their homework before they steal something from the museum and however did this are professionals! put the blame on the regime. this regime if you give them gold they turn it into sand! Farouk Hosni and Hawas should be fired for this incident. 50 millions is not a small amount of money!!! and it is not even about money it is antique that suppose to be protected and treasured!

      4. @Mohamed Saeed, ITA and also it seems like those behind the theft knew about plans to close the museum for a much needed upgrade in the coming months. This is someone or a group who had insider info and managed to pull the theft out right before such plans took place, apparently the plans included doing smthng about the camera system and that wouldve made it more difficult to steal the painting.

Z: plz check the Sky's reporting on this story. They wrote that the museum has paintings worth millions by other big names, is that correct? If so, shouldnt they remove them to a safe at the central bank or something until the museum is secured?!!

      5. @anonymous #1 , thanks for the correction

@Mohamed Saad, they did not need the guards to pray , they found no one following , they knew how poor equipped the museum and how unprepared its guards were especially in Ramadan !!

@anonymous#2 , Mubarak will not fire Hosni nor Hawas even if the grand Pyramid of Giza were cut in to pieces !! I can't tell you how many scandals those two faced and they are still their in their position !! Whole temples were stolen during the time and whole palaces were burned down during the time of UNESCO manager wanna be and the daddy of all mummies !

@anonymous#3 , it is true ,they are other big painters too , you got Gauguin and Renoir. Already I fear that they were being stolen for a long time and replaced by fake ones ; who can check in Egypt the authenticity of these paintings already !!

      6. Unfortunately this incident has the elements of what Egypt has become today as it has examples of neglect, corruption, apathy, nothing functions, blame, incompetence, etc.....the only thing missing is blaming the US and Israel.
