Egyptain X-Files : Back to Babel

Back to Babel aka Ashraf Marwan , the file is re-opened in London new criminal evidences began to surface and we are only waiting to know the end of the British investigations

anyhow during our wait I believe it is no harm to re-open the file again , read it carefully and try to think outside the box

Till now I am not convinced with the popular theory the Egyptian government is promoting day and night that Ashraf Marwan was killed by the Israeli Mossad, the simple conspiracy theory that found public acceptance due to the people’s hate towards Israel that made them forget this is the Ashraf Marwan who was for years was accused by corruption and whose son is one of the men who were responsible for turning music and TV channels in to playboy ground.

Of course I am not convinced with the Scotland Yard early version of the story either that this man committed suicide, simply because if you return back to the life story of Marwan since he met Mona Abd El-Nasser, which was for sure the lucky hour and a turning point in the life of that man, you see the example of a daring adventurous man who succeeded for decades through great intelligence to make an empire, this man played dangerous roles in the political arena in Egypt and here I am referring to his role whether in times of President Nasser and President Sadaat where he aided the later against the same men of his father in law , moving to his role in the AOM and arm deals for Egypt ,the role that I can not deny but also I can not forget that it opened to him the door for the death trade that made all that big empire ; added to it the big discovery of being a double agent of two of the most important secret services in the world at the same time in one of the most critical time in the history of the two nations , do you think that this kind with that kind of a history man in front of some moment of sickness will end his life by his own hand ??

I will not say that this is so strange, the third death for an Egyptian, not any Egyptian but one who was connected to the President Nasser era

Strangely you will find huge resemblances between his murder and the other three sorry four mysterious Egyptians murders in the fog capital ,may be if we return back and revised those cases and also revised the life of Marwan carefully faraway from emotions and media then we will get some clue , not a definite answer but some logic clue

I am afraid I feel that there is some a group thinking mind set in Marwan's case thanks to the public official media

This is just the start

  1. Q: What makes a spy (single or double agent) go along that path? A: i)Money, ii) Political motivation (mostly one way spy), and iii) A government plan (I will expand later). Ashraf Marawan didn’t need money, he was sent to England as a personal friend to Sadat after saving the president from attempted coup early in the first year of his presidency. He quickly amassed great deal of money from arms trading on behalf of the Egyptian Government. He also lacks political motivation. If you know someone familiar with him when he was young before marrying Nasser’s daughter will tell you that he fitted more the style of typical playboy in Hollywood’s movies or “Ahmad Ramzy” in the old Egyptian movies. What I believe is more fitting the third option “Government(s) plan/plot. After the six days war the war of attrition started, this type of battle was exhausting for both Israel and Egypt. Russia didn’t help Egypt building a well equipped army to win a long conclusive battle. It was impossible however, for any Egyptian president to negotiate peace with Israel (even if it meant returning Egyptian lands) and Israel couldn’t keep the post war transition forever. They needed some semi-closure with Egypt. The only possible scenario is for Egypt to gain some limited scope battle lifting the Egyptian pride and give Sadat the path to negotiate peace. Israel (I think) wouldn’t mind to participate for such a plan to at least close the door on the Egyptian file even if it includes fooling some of their military intelligence (like the one who wrote the book exposing Marawan as Israeli agent). Thus, Marawan could well be playing an actor /spy role plotted by both Egyptian & Israeli government with the blessing of the USA. That explains the reluctance of the Egyptian Government to label him as a traitor. At the same time he became a burden for a lot of people and he might have been pushed a strong enough to disclose undesirable secret !!!???.

  2. @anonymous this is a good theory , but one historical mistake is that Marwan is said to be recruited in year 1969 when President Nasser was alive ,when he was sent to London
I am sorry but according to all historians Marwan has nothing to do with the Peace Process , and back doors negotiations which actually it started in 1974 with the visit of El-Tohamy
anyhow I do not get what you are saying , are you saying that the 6th of October was a charade or what ??

  3. I didn't say he was involved in the peace process. He was involved in the trigger to the peace process the 6th of October war. He gave Israel the date (plus six hours), enough to give Egyptian army the initial advantage but with limited and less sophisticated arms theycouldn't keep it too long before the Israeli army swithched side (given US inteligence data and spohisticated arms) Yeas it was something like a charade. Marawan might have been appointed by Nasser, but his key role with Sadat was tipping him about the coup attempt (in the 1970/71 I am not sure of the actual date) after that he financially grew too fast. When did you hear of a spy to nock on the other side's embassy in a foreign country like the UK to offer his help? (not even in the rediculous Bond movies). Again no; he disn't have the political sophistication and knowledge to get involved in the peace process. Yeas it is a theory and feel free to poke holes in it ...!

  4. I heard this theory before and I do not about your political favorite team in Egypt but those who repeat it are the Nasserites in an attempt to defame president Sadaat
ok I will poke the holes in it , first of all we are talking about War people from both sides die in it , it is not a chess game
second of all it is a lie that Marwan knew that the time of the war this is something well known to the secert service people themselves , this just an israeli claim that they know the time of the war
This is confirmed by the several secert service men , this is confirmed by many of the officials in Egypt ,just last week I read some where the foreign minister in front of the assembly said that it was false story and I believe him in that
look this what I mean we are all ignoring his life except this
about those who knock the enemies door well you will be surprised that there are couple of Israeli Espionage cases against Egypt the spies were Egyptian young men who went to the Israeli Embassies in Greece and Italy to work for them , it is common by the way their kind is in every place , I read a top American official in the FBI worked for the KGB just for fun
you will be amazed that this world treason can happen for reasons beyond imagination

  5. No I am not Nasserite in any shape way or form. The statement about Marawan going to the Israeli embassy came from israeli book by Maj. Gen Eli Zeira, who was fired from his position as head of military intelligence over Israel's failure to predict the 1973 Arab attack, said in a 1993 book that Israel was caught by surprise because it was led astray by a double agent he did not identify. But Marwan's name subsequently was released to the press last year. What I am asking Why? why did he go along that path? he didn't need the money, he had no political believe conflicting with the Egyptian side. I also repeat inspite of the sad reality of loss of egyptian soldiers lives, in a war Egypt wasn't technically equiped to launch and maitain for a practial length they courrageously pushed the first phase then things changed to the enemy's side. After that a cal period of few years then the peace process. If one examines history carefully most wars never maches what the political stamp about them. Sorry to upset your political belief system, but if we agree he wasn't an authentic spy Why and Who benefits from killing him??

  6. Well, I read at least 4 books detailing what happened before and after the 6th of October war. I read books from both sides of the conflict as well as independant ones. Also, there are couple of research articles available online conducted by others.
From all that, i really sade to hear that AM died..i think he is the one who tricked the Israeles and gave them 100% correct information (with or without the knowledge of the Egyptian side) to trick them. He even warned them of imminent war in May 1973, a tip that pushed them to mobilize their reserve in vain and loose couple of billion dollars, a step that made them very reluctant to mobilize their reserve in October.
It seems that he gave them the date of the October attack (+4 hours) as well. Please note that the time of the attack has changed before the war (after consulting with the Syrians) and actually Egypt had some intention to attack in May but changed its mind.

So, i think that while not all the info is available to us, it seems that (for whatever his intentions were) what he did worked in Egypt's favor....
So comes the big question... Who wanted to revenge from AM...
Read this book and you will know
    "The EVE of Destruction"

  7. Dear anonymous , these are only speculations we have ,conclusions from reading books here and there , the only answer is a direct definite documented statement from the Egyptian intelligence ,the statement I am afraid we did not have yet , I am sorry but Omar Soliman attendance to the funeral is not enough , Mubarak did not say what patriot role the man exactly did
Two Egyptian general intelligence in two eras denied their knowledge that he worked a spy for our side and demanded an investigation to reveal the truth
